I utilize a combination of approaches, including Behavior Modification, Client-Centered Therapy, Experiential activities, Impact Therapy, Individual Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Approach, Polyvagal Theory, Psychoeducation, Psychoanalysis, Reality Therapy, Skill Training, Solution-focused interventions, and Strength-Based Theory, to increase
functionality. All modalities are evidence-based and proven.
Out of 168 hours in a week, therapy takes one hour. To effect the most change, I utilize homework, journaling, and exercises to extend the therapeutic hour and help you continue to keep your mental health and the work you are doing in sessions, fresh and foremost in your mind.
You are the expert of your own story. I want to hear your story. We all have a unique way of viewing life’s struggles and triumphs. None of us lives a perfect life, so it’s not about doing everything right. It’s about making the best decisions for yourself with the information you have right now. Therapeutic rapport, or the relationship between therapist and client, is the most valuable tool in my toolbox.
I will work very hard to meet you where you are, so that you feel seen, heard, and understood, perhaps for the first time. My job is to gently help you see blind spots and areas of masking so you can live your most authentic life. Together, we will find the approach that works best for you. You have the answers within you, but perhaps you have lost faith and trust in yourself to see them. Let’s find your strength and resilience that is your birthright.
“A thought is just a thing. Just like the pen in your hand is a thing. The only meaning and value it has is that which we give it."
"The best gift a parent can give their child is to get help with their wounds and traumas, so they don’t get passed on to the next generation"
ABOUT
Lyric Writer, Singer, Wanna-be Piano Player and Author, Traveler, Lover of Books, Horse Lover, Beach Lover, Dog and Cat Mom, Mimi
I love making moments joyful, no matter how small. I feel that humor is an unsung therapeutic and resiliency tool.
Music, nature, and natural elements are great ways to help us feel grounded in the moment.
I have worked in therapeutic foster care, residential care, in-home crisis care, hospital settings, churches, home-
based therapy, and office-based therapy. I am particularly passionate about families and healing the wounds from
previous generations that keep getting passed on. I also spent nearly 10 years working with the HIV+ community,
learning, listening, and caring for some of the most marginalized people in our society. I have managed emergency
rooms while families were going through the worst possible minutes of their lives, sat bedside with patients as they
passed, held clients as they mourned the loss of their four-legged family that treated them better than anyone else
had. I have friends who were commercial sex workers, transgender friends, gay and straight friends, Republican and
Democrat friends, older friends, young friends, and new friends. My friends are not friends; they are chosen family.
I have two adult daughters and one grandson. Don’t let the gray fool you! I am an open-minded, out-of-the-box
thinker, innovator, and free spirit. I love learning and never grow tired of expanding and challenging myself. At any
given minute you can ask me what I’m reading or studying, and I will be sure to fill you in on the latest.
I will shovel horse manure just to be around horses, so much so my one daughter wrapped horse poop for me for
Mother’s Day. It was the best gift, EVER!
I am always on the lookout for eagles. Because of this, I have seen 10 eagles in the wild in West Virginia. I am also
partial to great herons. I can get excited to see hawks in trees during my travels or in my backyard. I’ve even seen
and heard a few owls.
