Psychological Assessments and Evaluations

Psychological testing & assessments are diagnostic tools that aid in the identification, diagnosis, and proper treatment of attentional, learning, and mental health related challenges. Assessment measures allow clinicians to provide specific treatment recommendations tailored to your individual needs.

Adult Attention-Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder Evaluation
(Children & Adult)

Do you have difficulty focusing on one task at a time? Find yourself easily distracted? Have difficulty meeting deadlines, with a tendency to procrastinate? Have trouble keeping your life organized? Find yourself acting without thinking? Struggle to develop plans to complete tasks? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you may have an undiagnosed attentional disorder. We offer diagnostic evaluations for adults, to assess for a possible attentional disorder, such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The evaluation assesses an individual’s memory, cognitive abilities, and executive functioning skills. The results of the evaluation can be used to obtain appropriate accommodations for college and standardized testing, such as the GRE, LSAT, etc.

Autism Spectrum Evaluation (Child & Adult)

Children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) present with deficits in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication, repetitive behaviors or interests, and may present with unusual responses to sensory experiences. Since these disorders are usually diagnosed early in a child’s development, they are referred to as developmental disorders. Some children have severe deficits in these areas and some have mild deficits. Autism treatments vary depending on where a child lands on the spectrum. Additionally, treatment is tailored to the unique needs of that individual.

Cognitive Assessment (Children & Adult)

Giftedness is exceptional intellectual abilities and potential for achievement that requires specially designed instruction and services beyond those normally provided in the general classroom instruction. Traditionally, an IQ of 130 or more qualifies as gifted.

In West Virginia, 1.96% of the total school enrollment is identified as gifted in grades one through eight.  Exceptional gifted students comprise 0.07% of total student enrollment.

Not just for children: Some may be interested in joining Mensa International (or similar organizations), meeting qualifications for egg/sperm donation and/or surrogacy, or to establish cognitive abilities for workplace settings.

Full Psycho-educational Evaluation (Children & Adult)
Cognitive Assessment/Academic Achievement Assessment

Have you struggled your whole life with certain aspects of school? Has reading, writing, or math, always been a source of difficulty? We offer learning and accommodations evaluations, designed to examine for the presence of a learning disability. These are collectively known as psychoeducational evaluations. If you feel that you may have a learning disability, we can help you find out. These evaluations focus on assessing an individual’s intellectual (IQ) and academic skills, and offer some information regarding learning/memory, attention, and/or social-emotional factors. The results of the evaluation can be used to obtain appropriate accommodations for college and standardized testing, such as the GRE, LSAT, etc.

Achievement testing can help identify your academic achievement level in various subjects. We use only norm-referenced, widely accepted psychological tests. Note that health insurance companies may not cover psycho-educational testing.
