Approach
Casual and comfortable, you might not even realize we are doing real therapy. I use therapy modalities that are rooted in helping you make decisions that align with the best version of yourself. The primary therapies used are: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and experiential therapy. Life is hard and I want to provide a safe space to talk about the hard stuff with sprinkles of fun; the laughs are on the house.
“You know, a lot of people don’t love themselves. And they go through life with deep and haunting emotional conflicts. So the length of life means that you must love yourself. And you know what loving yourself also means? It means that you’ve got to accept yourself.”-Dr. Martin Luther King

I believe that you matter.

I grew up in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, in a community where the LGBTQ+ population was often misunderstood. Because of that, I spent a lot of my early years searching for connection and a place where I truly belonged. I found that space through social work. It gave me permission to be my authentic self without judgment, and it connected me with people who shared my values and heart for others. I later moved to Morgantown, where I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from West Virginia University.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with high risk and vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, those in crisis or seeking suicide prevention support, and people navigating substance use disorders. Advocacy is at the core of who I am. I’m deeply committed to making sure people who feel unheard, invisible, or disconnected know they have a voice and that they don’t have to walk alone.

On any given day, you might find me picking up rocks along the side of the road or helping train service dogs. In my free time, I love being outdoors. Canoeing, kayaking, biking, hiking, and spending time with my five dogs all help keep me grounded and connected.
