I approach counseling through the framework of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I know that the name might make it sound like I’m going to tell you to just accept the bad thing that brought you to therapy! However, I can assure you of two things: #1, I will never tell you what to do, and #2, acceptance is simply the opposite of avoidance. If you’re considering counseling, you’re already on your way! I am trained in EMDR, CPT, and PCIT. By integrating Relational Frame Theory with evidence-based behavioral and mindfulness techniques, I take a holistic approach to healing. While these theoretical underpinnings may sound technical, my primary commitment is to deeply understand each client and offer unwavering, unconditional positive regard. My goal is to create a space in my office where individuals can bring their vulnerabilities, challenges, aspirations, and dreams, knowing they will be met with empathy and respect.

ABOUT

Old Soul. Outdoor Dabbler. Coffee Devotee. Appalachian-Rooted. Imperfectly Present. Vulnerability Advocate.

Vulnerability in therapy can be challenging, but I know that firsthand because I’ve walked that path myself. I firmly believe that therapy is for everyone, which is why I continue to do the work—always evolving, always facing new challenges, and always embracing vulnerability. This ongoing journey allows me to grow and show up as a more authentic version of myself every day.

I’m Kacie, though my wife lovingly calls me “Mamaw” because of my “old Appalachian soul” that tends to shine through in everything I do. I’m a passionate hobbyist—one month, I’m all about being outdoors, and the next, I’m diving into art. Staying present in the moment has been an ongoing practice (thankfully, it’s improving, and it helps me show up better for my clients).

If there’s anyone in the room likely to say something a little quirky (and maybe even embarrassing), it’s probably going to be me. For example, during a job interview, one of my answers was “Winnie the Pooh!” But, in my defense, it’s hard not to bring up the guy who knows how to bear the challenges of life!

I look forward to bringing my genuine, imperfect self to our work together.
