Embarking on a therapeutic journey is truly an investment in your well-being and quality of life. This is especially true for children, adolescents, and young adults who may struggle with processing complex emotions and daunting experiences in an unbalanced world. I consider it an utmost privilege to accompany clients as they navigate through the peaks and valleys of life to healing, goal-slaying, and positive lifestyle changes.

I am an open-minded, dynamic, and supportive therapist who will gently guide you to facilitating change, while learning new coping strategies and identifying self-defeating thought patterns. I have both personal and professional experience with positive coparenting, blended families, and helping children healthfully adjust to family changes.  I began my career as a school psychologist, where I administered psychological and educational assessments for children at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. However, my true passion emerged as counseling – particularly for adolescents, young adults, and clients who may initially be reticent to connect or embrace counseling. Taking the (sometimes daunting) first step to positive change is to be celebrated, and we look forward to cheering your successes every step of the way.

“ There is no passion to be found playing small; in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” Nelson Mandela

Dr. Catherine Bailey, Licensed Psychologist

Appalachian Life Enrichment Counseling Center

about.

Proud Mother, Nature Aficionado, Animal Lover, Literature Nerd, Travel Enthusiast.

I am the proud mother of two young sons, who keep me laughing daily. We enjoy anything outdoors – including hiking, swimming, and embarking on new travel adventures. I am a voracious reader, an animal lover, and originate from the Hallmark movie-worthy small town of Spencer, WV. I enjoy 90s music, coffee and a good book, and Japanese food. My friends and family would describe me as optimistic, empathetic, ambitious, and unabashedly clumsy at times!

After completing my undergraduate degree at West Virginia University, I ventured to Happy Valley, PA, to complete my Ph.D. in School Psychology at Penn State. As a pre-doctoral intern, I had the opportunity to learn from a variety of stellar school psychologists at Broward County Schools in Fort Lauderdale, FL. From there, I worked as a school psychologist in North Carolina and Kentucky for five years, before returning “home” to wild and wonderful West Virginia.
